Castle Square (Plac Zamkovy) -- The base of Zygmunt's Column to the left, and the Royal Castle (with Zygmunt's tower) to the right. Bombed and burned by the Nazis it was blown up by them in 1944. Reconstuction lasted from 1971 to 1988.
