Warsaw Monuments and Memorials. Visitors often note the number of memorials and monuments in Warsaw. Considering the history of Poland, this should come as no surprise.
Krakow, Poland. Krakow is the spiritual center of Poland. Even when the government moved to Warsaw, kings were crowned and buried in Krakow. "Polishness" fared better under the Austrians during the partitions, and the city was spared the destruction that befell Warsaw during WWII.
