"This benefit of seeing...can come only if you pause a while, extricate yourself from the maddening mob of quick impressions ceaselessly battering our lives, and look thoughtfully at a quiet image...the viewer must be willing to pause, to look again, to meditate."
Dorothea Lange

This is a photograph of "The Weather Project", by Olafur Eliasson, installed in the "Turbine Hall" of London's Tate Modern Museum from 16 October 2003 until 21 March 2004.  It was a wonderfully appropriate use of the Turbine Hall's massive dimensions.  The "sun" is actually a half-circle "light fixture" which is "bisected" by the mirrored ceiling.  The walls were painted black or very dark grey, and mist was piped in.

Folks on the floor of the installation can see themselves reflected above.  The woman and child just happened to be there when I showed up.  The child was enthralled, and the woman let him just take in and enjoy the whole experience.
